Yup, there will be a Scream 4!!! I’m not really sure how I feel about this, what do you guys think? Here’s the press release from Showtime about the Scream franchise as well as some others. Take a look at the release and skip down to the important, almost at the bottom of the darn thing. Oh, yeah, there is also a mention of Scanners, as well.
(New York, NY 7/14/08) –In a move that enhances its slate of theatrical motion pictures, Showtime Networks Inc. has entered into an exclusive seven-year film distribution arrangement with The Weinstein Company (TWC). The joint announcement was made today by Matthew C. Blank, Chairman and CEO of Showtime Networks and Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Co-Chairmen of TWC.
The new output deal is effective with TWC’s 2009 release schedule and includes such highly anticipated films as “Nine,” directed by Rob Marshall (“Chicago”) and featuring an all-star cast including Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench and Sophia Loren, and Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Bastards.”
“This exclusive agreement with The Weinstein Company will deliver our subscribers an enormous and diverse slate of films at a price to SHOWTIME that is consistent with today’s marketplace,” said Blank. “Bob’s and Harvey’s films are known for quality and promotability, making them a perfect fit with the acclaimed and award-winning original series that have generated strong momentum and subscriber growth for SHOWTIME. We will continue to pursue such value-enhancing deals in the future.”
The agreement with TWC – combined with upcoming deals from other theatrical distributors and future product from CBS Films – will form a potent feature film portfolio alongside SHOWTIME’s award-winning, critically acclaimed original series and sports programming. These series include Dexter, Californication, The Tudors, Weeds, Brotherhood, The L Word, Tracey Ullman’s State of the Union, Penn & Teller: Bullshit, , Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and the just announced series, United States of Tara, from Executive Producer Steven Spielberg, written by Academy Award ® winning screenwriter (“Juno”) Diablo Cody and starring Toni Collett. “This long-term strategic partnership is a tremendous initiative for our company and provides our films with a critically important pay-tv home for the next seven years,” said Harvey Weinstein. “SHOWTIME is one of the hottest brands in television and we have tremendous respect for Matt Blank and his team’s passion, dedication and creativity. In this changing media environment, we are thrilled to have now secured distribution for our films across a variety of media, and we look forward to continuing to build our diverse slate and creating movies that will entertain SHOWTIME’s audience,” he added.
Additional titles included from TWC are: Andrew Jarecki’s “All Good Things” starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst, a modern remake of Kurosawa’s legendary “Seventh Samurai,” the screen adaptation of author Paulo Coelho’s best-selling novel “The Alchemist,” and Richard Shepard’s “Panic” based on Jeff Abbott’s best-selling book.
The output deal also includes releases from Dimension Films such as “Youth In Revolt,” based on C.D. Payne’s bestselling book and starring Michael Cera, “6 Billion Dollar Man,” the remake of David Cronenberg’s “Scanners,” re-starting the “Scream” franchise with “Scream 4,” and “Piranha 3D.”
This deal furthers the relationship between Showtime Networks and TWC’s Dimension Films which began in 1997 with SHOWTIME airing “Mimic,” and “Scream 2.”
“Dimension Films has enjoyed an outstanding relationship with Showtime and we are glad to be re-united with Matt Blank,” added Bob Weinstein. “We are excited to build upon our past success with this new partnership and our upcoming slate.”
The 2 Faces of Mrs. Voorhees
The 2 Faces of Mrs. Voorhees
In the dreaded remake of Friday the 13th we will also get a new Mrs. Voorhees. Nana Visitor is said to be the new turtleneck sweater wearing knife holding momma. Ever hear of her? Me either. So, I looked her up and she looooooks nothing like the previous Mrs. Voorhees.
Seriously, does this woman
look like she could have birthed this dude?
Yeah, I don’t think so either? Check out the previous Mrs. Voorhees and see if you understand my confusion in them picking Nana.
Actually she doesn’t look like she could birthed that fug, either.
WTH? My Childhood Weeps :(

Ok, I’ve been trying to ignore this but, the horror gods won’t let me. As you might know there is a Lost Boys 2 coming to dvd (where is belongs) sometime this summer. After I watched that hideous trailer I decieded to ignore this movie’s existence, but I saw this mess and had to comment.

I don’t know about you but, the Lost Boys is one of my favorite movies of all time and the fact that is being ruined, annoys the hell out of me. Furthermore, when did Corey Feldman become the star of it. Wasn’t he like a side character to Corey Haim’s?
I can already see where this is going, this movie has absolutely nothing to do with the original Lost Boys. It’s just a movie they made and stuck Corey Feldman and reportedly Corey Haim in, so they could call it the Lost Boys.
Seriously where’s Star? Where’s Laddie? Where’s Michael? Seriously where is Jason Patric, he should be in this, it’s not like he’s busy.
Don’t watch this trailer.

Will You Watch Nightmare on Elm Street without Freddie?
No Nightmare on Englund’s Street
Robert Englund’s term as Freddy Krueger may have come to end.
Platinum Dunes and New Line rocked the horror world last week when the production entities announced they were working together to overhaul the “Nightmare on Elm Street” brand (full story here). A number of industry sources recently phoned in to shed some light on the early discussions going on behind-the-scenes regarding “Nightmare”…and none of them include Englund starring as Krueger.
The franchise facelift includes discovering a new actor to polish up the finger knives and play the iconographic dream role Englund has practically made his second skin since ’84.
Disheartening news for the fans, maybe, but rumor has it Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes is taking “Nightmare” back to square one…as in fresh start, hitting the reset button, making it their own (think “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” ’03 and Friday the 13th ’09). Because of this decision, they’d like to find another actor to carry the new Krueger into future films.

So, I ask you guys is a Nightmare without Robert Englund worth watching?
