Last week Marvel introduced a new female superhero. Her name is Lunella Lafayette and she is pre-teen super genius, known as Moon Girl. Moon Girl’s side-kick on her adventures is a red Tyrannosaurus Rex called the Devil Dinosaur. Don’t you love it?
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is Marvel’s newest female superhero, and at the helm of the book are writers Amy Reeder (Madame Xanadu, Batwoman) and Brandon Montclare (Rocket Girl, Fear Itself: Fearsome Four), artist Natacha Bustos (Strange Sports Stories), editor Mark Paniccia and assistant editor Emily Shaw.
This is actually the reintroduction of Devil Dinosaur, the first appearance of this character was back in the late 70s and the character was a boy. The comic also took place in an alternate universe that had the dinosaurs and the cave dwellers living together. This time around Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will take place on our plane with the duo adventures reportedly taking place in Manhattan.
Montclare told Entertainment Weekly that they didn’t have a particular design for Moon Girl’s ventures just yet.
“There’s no specific plan — you definitely have to make room for a battle of the monsters: King Kong versus Godzilla, that kind of thing. And there are some flashbacks to the original dinosaur world, so you’ll get a flavor of that,” Montclare said.
Welcome to the Marvel Universe Lunella, happy super heroing!
