Tales from the HorrorVine – Paramount Kills ‘Friday the 13th’ Reboot and Delays ‘World War Z 2’

Someone over at Paramount is not feeling Jason or Brad right now.

Jason, Put Your Hockey Mask Away!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Platinum Dunes produced reboot of Friday the 13th has been pulled from the production schedule, with no new date given.

Apparently the studio became gun shy after the unwanted remake of Rings proved underwhelming at the box office. Friday the 13th the redeux was in pre-production and slated to shoot in mid-March.

Honestly, I’m unsure as to why they keep trying to reboot this series at this point. The 2009 reboot was quite enough of that nonsense. Instead of a reboot might we suggest a proper ending to old Jason, retire the character with some dignity. I think that might actually interest us more.

Hey Brad!

Also, on the not sure we’re feeling this is the sequel to World War Z, World War Z 2.

Although, mature hotness Brad Pitt signed on to star in this sequel tapped director J.A. Bayona jumped ship. For some reason this seems to be the story of this franchise. The same thing happened during the production of the last film. I’m pretty sure they lost a director, a writer and a candlestick maker before the film finished shooting.

So far sources say World War Z 2 could see the light of day in 2018 or 2019. I read the book and enjoyed the first film, but I’m unsure what story is left to tell. We’re also starting to suffer from zombie fatigue at this point. But, whatever dazzle us with a slick trailer and I’ll plant myself in a seat.
