Director: Brandon Zuck
Cast : Giorgia Whigham, Pepi Sonuga, Cameron Fuller, Jude Demorest and Olivia Liang
Crawlers is the St Patrick’s episode of Hulu’s Into the Dark and is by far the most fun of the two seasons. This episode is different in the way the narrative is told, it borrows heavily from films like Shaun of the Dead and even more from the film Feast. In other words it’s a great mixture of comedy and horror elements updated for this Generation of course.
On Saint Patrick’s day—a night of wild parties and drunken revelry—three unlikely friends band together to save a college town from a vicious horde of body-switching aliens.
Director Zuck does a great job with the story-telling, as stated there is a great mixture of smart comedy, horror elements and alien shenanigans. There is also a bit of social consciousness thrown in for good measure. For the first time I literally liked every lead character in the episode. And, per my usual, I have questions – for Shauna’s mom. That will make sense when you watch the episode. The special effects budget for Crawlers is impressive because the use of special effects and the practical makeup mixed nicely.
In partnership with Blumhouse Television, Into The Dark is a horror event series from prolific, award-winning producer, Jason Blum’s independent TV studio. The series includes 12 super-sized episodes, with a new installment released each month inspired by a holiday and will feature Blumhouse’s signature genre/thriller spin on the story.
