Psst, True Crime Podcast Fans! Dream Job Alert – This Halloween, Crime Pays

Upstanding detective or criminal mastermind, True Crime lover or adept podcatcher, scaredy-cat or “final girl”—if you have a taste for the macabre, Vio Security is looking for a who that knows whodunit. This Halloween, we’re shelling out $1,666 for one crafty crime buff to listen to 31 hours of the top True Crime podcasts. Think you could handle it?

To make this case stick, we need our winner to provide some evidence as they pod-on. The jury wants to know: What elements of each story did you like the most? Were your sleep habits affected? Do you believe anyone was falsely accused?

We’ll send our winner a heart rate monitor to record their physiological responses as they jump from pod to pod.

Whether you’re a seasoned True Crime veteran or a casual podcast listener in search of your next favorite, we’re letting our winner have lots of wiggle room while on the job.

The winner can listen to any episodes they like from the following True Crime podcasts, as long as they 1) listen to each podcast at least once and 2) listen in for at least 31 hours.

Here are some of the best True Crime podcasts you’ll listen to:

  • Motive for Murder
  • Crime Junkie
  • Son of a Hitman
  • Dateline
  • My Favorite Murder
  • Real Narcos
  • Serial
  • Someone Knows Something
  • I Survived
  • The Thing About Pam

From there, we’ll have our True Crime junkie answer a series of questions based on their experience. The goal of the whole ordeal is to help us understand how True Crime podcasts affect people—specifically if they make people feel more unsafe the more they listen.

If you land the gig, you’ll walk away scot-free with some serious benefits:

  • $1,666
  • Your very own True Crime Kit:
  1. Heart rate monitoring device
  2. Door block mechanism
  3. Access to a personal safety app
  4. Flashlight
  5. Whistle
  6. Wireless earbuds

We think the $1,666 speaks for itself. At nearly $56 an hour, that number is quite the score. One could even say winning it would be the perfect crime…

As a security company, we know that 31 hours of True Crime might leave you feeling a biiiit paranoid. To ward off the post-podcast scaries, we’re giving the winner a True Crime Kit to help secure their home and keep the pods playing.

In the True Crime Kit, we’ll include wireless earbuds to optimize your listening experience. In addition to a safety flashlight and whistle, we’ll include a door blocking mechanism and access to a personal safety app (like Bond) to boost your peace of mind. Want even more ways to protect your home? Check out our True Crime Safety Guide.

To help you along your heist, we’re giving our winner a Fitbit. The winner can record their heart rate as they hop from pod to pod. If you’re not sure which cold case left you with the worst chills, the heart rate monitor can help you separate the sighs from the scares.

Application Requirements: The candidate needs to be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Application Process: To be considered for the job, candidates must fill out the form on our application page. In about 200 characters, we want you to tell us why you’d make the perfect candidate (or maybe the smoothest criminal). We also would like you to answer the following questions:

  • How do you usually celebrate the Halloween season?
  • How often do you listen to podcasts?
  • What True Crime story keeps you up at night?

Although not a requirement, candidates are encouraged to send in a video application in addition to their written application.

Submissions for the job close Monday, October 19 at 12 PM MT. The chosen winner will have to have listened to 31 podcast hours and include their responses by October 31.
