‘Vampire in Brooklyn’ – 28 Days of Black Horror Movies

This year to celebrate Black History Month, I am going to watch a Black horror film each night. There are some films on this list that I’ve seen hundreds of times, and there are a few I’ve known of but never got around to viewing.

Tonight’s film is one from my long-gone teenage years, Vampire in Brooklyn. I have not watched this one in years. It will be interesting to see if it held up and what my opinion is on it now.

Vampire in Brooklyn is directed by horror legend Wes Craven. It was written by and stars Eddie Murphy. The cast also includes (Queen) Angela Bassett, Kadeem Hardison, John Witherspoon, Zakes Mokae, and Joanna Cassidy.

A ship docks in Brooklyn with all its crew dead, but someone gets off and the killing continues on land. A Caribbean vampire is searching for a specific woman, half-human half-vampire. Rita is the detective investigating the many killings.
