‘Blade’ – 28 Days of Black Horror Movies

The movie gods today were busy because Blade was already scheduled for my Saturday viewing choice on the 28 days of black horror movies journey, when Marvel released the title for the upcoming reboot.

In an announcement yesterday Watchmen writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour has now been tapped to write the Blade script for the long-awaited movie, the official title has now been reportedly revealed to be Blade, The Vampire Slayer.

As we all know the much anticipated reboot will star Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the supercool (hopefully leather clad) hero Blade. So far no plot details have been released. As for the original Blade it’s not given its proper due in my opinion, it’s overlooked as the culture moment that it is. Wesley Snipes is the precursor to Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther action hero praise. I for one absolutely love the Blade trilogy, especially the first film. At time the film was sleek, cool and just an ass-kicking fun time. The cast as a bonus was comprised of mostly Black and Asian actors. Hat-tips Wesley.

A half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.

Blade stars: Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson, N’Bushe Wright and Donal Logue.  It’s directed by Stephen Norrington.
