Snoop Dogg is a horror fan, I think this is a  somewhat known fact at this point. So it’s not that surprising he chose Bones for his leading man debut.

Bones is a 2001 American horror film directed by Ernest Dickerson and starring rapper Blaxploitation as the eponymous Jimmy Bones, a murdered numbers runner that rises from the grave to avenge his death.

 

The film not only stars Snoop, but the legendary queen Pam Grier. Khalil Kain, Clifton Powell, Ricky Harris, Bianca Lawson, Katharine Isabelle and Michael T. Weiss round out the cast. It is written by Adam Simon and Tim Metcalfe.

Overall, Bones is not a bad film at all. It is the direct descendant of JD’s Revenge without the problematic parts of Glynn Turman’s performance. And, the extra fucked up misogyny. Thanks Ernest Dickerson! 🙂
