‘The Call’ – 28 Days of Black Horror Movies

The Call is a 2013 American psychological crime thriller horror film directed by Brad Anderson and written by Richard D’Ovidio.

When a veteran 911 operator takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.

The film stars Abigail Breslin as Casey Welson, the teenage girl kidnapped by a serial killer and Halle Berry as Jordan Turner, a 9-1-1 operator, still suffering emotionally from a prior botched 9-1-1 call, who receives Casey’s call. Morris Chestnut, Michael Eklund, Michael Imperioli and David Otunga also star.

Originally envisioned as a television series, but D’Ovidio later rewrote it as a feature film.

For whatever reason, some people don’t think of this as a horror film, however in my opinion and since it’s my site, The Call is just as much a horror film as  Split. Fight me. And most importantly, Halle has on her serious auntie wig in this so, you already knew the serial killer was going to get caught.
