‘A Haunted House’ – 28 Days of Black Horror Movies

A Haunted House is a 2013 found footage parody film directed by Michael Tiddes, written, produced and starring Marlon Wayans.

Malcolm and Kisha move into their dream home, but soon learn a demon also resides there. When Kisha becomes possessed, Malcolm – determined to keep his sex life on track – turns to a priest, a psychic, and a team of ghost-busters for help.

The film also stars: Essence Atkins, Cedric the Entertainer, Nick Swardson, David Koechner and Dave Sheridan.

Wayans said the film was “not exactly a parody” but rather a movie with funny characters doing the opposite of what typical people do in similar horror films,” the film pokes fun at the “found footage” horror genre, such as Paranormal Activity and The Devil Inside. Although critics hated this film, it made $60 million at the box office and spawned a sequel so its officially a franchise. Even if they aren’t your cup of tea, the Wayan’s do parody correctly and also with A Haunted House managed to stay true horror troupes.
