Can you feel it? We are all clawing away back to normalcy, and you know what this means right? We can drag our asses off our couches and return to the movie theaters if we please. I hate to admit it, but even my lazy anti-social ass after a year of not being able to go sit in an actual movie theater is ready for this! So, in the long windedness of the previous statement, the movie promotion machine is in full ramp mode for Spiral. The people who market movies has dropped a cool poster to remind us, we can see this film at your local IMAX (if it’s open in your area that is.)
A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.
Spiral stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and is produced by the original Saw team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg & Pete Goldfinger.
The IMAX release of Spiral will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
As much as I am not a fan of Chris Rock’s shouting at me “acting”, I am looking forward to returning to the theater. At least Sam Jackson will save us all- here’s hoping that is. And, I am so curious to see what this turns out to be, sans Jigsaw and his tricycle.
You too can be shouted at by Rock in IMAX, Spiral opens May 14th.
