‘The Lone Wolf’ (O Lobo Solitário) Short – (HF Review)

The Lone Wolf is a 20 minute film from Portuguese director, Filipe Melo, that takes you through a cycle of doubt and outright disbelief to a place of a very welcomed resolution.

One night on Viva FM’s late night show, host Vitor Lobo gets a phone call from an old friend – a call with such shocking implications and unexpected turns that it could change everything.

The film stars Adriano Luz as the radio host. Luz’s performance is superb and engaging. Luz is virtually acting by himself throughout the short film because the other character is simply a radio caller’s voice. He is unseen by us the viewers. Also, hat tips to the voice actor. He also gives a noteworthy performance, which is always difficult to do without us being able to see this person’s physical movements and facial expressions. It is truly disturbing to hear him tell his story.

Melo manages to capture a complete tale in a very short timeframe.  Overall, The Lone Wolf is a compelling short film. Although the film isn’t streaming or in theaters at this time, however we suggest you add it to your watchlist – see it.
