The Blackening centers around a group of Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to playby his rules, the friends soon realize this ain’t no motherf****** game.

Directed by Tim Story (Ride Along, Think Like A Man , Barbershop ) and co-written by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip, Harlem) and Dewayne Perkins (“The Amber Ruffin Show,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”).It stars: Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Dewayne Perkins, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, with Jay Pharoah and Yvonne Orji.

I admit it, I am so excited for this one. This trailer is literally the embodiment of how me and my friends talk about horror movies. No, we are not going into vacant cabins in the woods, splitting up and why does it seem the Black characters die first? Just basically these characters need to stop making stupid choices – white people shit.  Love y’all. The Blackening seems to be a hyper-meta satire extravaganza and I think I will love it. If it’s good, watching this film can become my new Juneteenth tradition.
