Inside No 9 can be described as Black Mirror meets The Twilight Zone. Ha, got your attention right?
Inside No. 9 is an anthology series that has redefined the “bottle episode” concept (for maximum claustrophobia). UK comedy duo Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton are the show creators and stars they take on different roles in every episode, but the only constant is that every episode takes place inside a location that has a “number 9” in it (i.e. an address, a police car number, a restaurant name, etc.). A BAFTA award-winner for “Best Comedy,” the show is known for its genre-bending approach to TV that merges dark humor with macabre twists.
This season’s episodes range from a Christmas-themed special taking place in a seemingly haunted church to a startling look at online dating to a send-up of game shows.
If you been following this site for a while you know how very much I enjoy TV from the UK and Australia and Canada, well most BBC, CBC and ABC shows. You get the idea. Anyway, I like this show. I had the pleasure of checking this season out and it’s fun- watch it! As the description states it really does have a Black Mirror/The Twilight Zone vibe, but a little more morbid humor.
Inside No. 9 streams August 25 on BritBox.
