‘Dark Harvest’, spooky corn fields, and scarecrows, oh my – New Trailer Thursday

Are You Ready for the Harvest? Again, as I skip past Sucktemper, I present for your viewing pleasure this new trailer Thursday, Dark Harvest, from director David Slade.

In a cursed town, the annual harvest becomes a brutal battle for survival. On Halloween 1963, Sawtooth Jack, a terrifying legend, rises from the cornfields, threatening the town’s children. Groups of boys unite to defeat the murderous scarecrow before midnight. Richie, a rebellious outcast, joins the run, motivated by his brother’s previous victory. As the hunt progresses, Richie makes a shocking discovery and faces a pivotal choice to break the relentless cycle.

The film stars: Casey Likes, E’myri Crutchfield, Dustin Ceithamer, Elizabeth Reaser with Jeremy Davies.

Its screenplay was written by Michael Gilio, based on the novel by Norman Partridge.

I’m going to make a full admission I haven’t read the novel, but if going  just by the trailer I will say I’m into it. Corn fields are just freakin’ creepy and they lend themselves to violence so well. Ok, so my entire opinion about this is based on movies, sue me. But flaming scarecrows, come on now – amazing.

Dark Harvest, is available on digital Friday, October 13th and it will screen one night only at Alamo Drafthouse Theaters October 11th.
