‘The People Under The Stairs’ Reboot Gets Its Writer

My old friend*Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has tapped Ezra Claytan Daniels to write the new screenplay for The People Under The Stairs redeux. Daniels past projects include Doom Patrol and a segment of the anthology film, Horror Noire.

The 1991 Wes Craven written and directed The People Under the Stairs starred Brandon Quintin Adams, Everett McGill, Wendy Robie, Ving Rhames, unsung legend Bill Cobbs, Kelly Jo Minter and A.J. Langer.

The plot follows a young boy and two adult robbers who become trapped in a house belonging to a neighborhood’s crooked landlords after breaking in to steal their collection of gold coins as the boy learns a dark secret about them and what also lurks in their house.

The reboot development was first reported on October 30, 2020 by Collider. So, it’s been in development awhile – I guess the pandemic, the writer’s strike, the actor’s strike put a halt to it. maybe it’ll finally get somewhere this time. Also, I will continue to suggest Brandon Adams now play the part of Leroy, that is if he wants.

Watch this space.

*I don’t know Jordan Peele.
