It’s inching closer to the Christmas Day release of the upcoming release of Nosferatu, and the powers that be dropped new and the final artwork. And even my cynical self is impressed – slightly and still only for the imagery.
A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake in 19th-century Germany.
The film stars: Bill Skarsgard, Lily Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe and Emma Corin. It is directed by Robert Eggers.
My original opinion still stands on this film, I do think this will be breathtakingly beautiful as far as the cinematography goes, but I also think it’s going to be pretentious and slow in pace. Although I have nothing against Lily Rose Depp – perse, I don’t think she is a good actor yet. Maybe she will prove me wrong, and I’m not a huge fan of Robert Eggers’s previous work. The Lighthouse and The Witch again gorgeous films, and boring as hell. Oddly, enough the older I get I seem to not love this new “elevated” horror aesthetic that currently in vogue right now.
Any rant, Nosferatu is in theaters December 25th.
