The Book Report Preview – “FOLLOW ME”, bonkers, unhinged, off-the-wall thriller

FOLLOW ME is the highly anticipated debut by Elizabeth Rose Quinn, a seasoned screenwriter who saw firsthand how toxic social media can be when she had her first child. Quinn was sleepless, overwhelmed and struggling with her shifting identity, she realized how susceptible she was to the allure of the polished and curated social media posts. The result is this creepy and frighteningly funny satiric thriller about a woman who sets out to find her missing sister—and uncovers the real horror of mom-stagram culture.

In the novel, after her twin sister, Chiara, goes missing at an exclusive retreat at queen influencer Thea McCorkle’s remote ranch in Mendocino County, Adrienne Shaw is determined to find answers, even though it’s been a year, and the police have given up. Although Adrienne’s own life is a mess, she goes undercover as an Insta-mommy, infiltrating the same influencer retreat to follow her sister’s last footsteps. The group seems welcoming, with its charismatic leader, group bonding activities, and communal crafts—but Adrienne notices the dead eyes, ruthless competition, and subtle backstabbing. Going on gut instinct and chasing a wild theory―that Chiara never left the retreat alive―Adrienne will do anything to uncover the truth before these too-perfect-to-believe women figure out who she really is: a threat to their society who must be eliminated at any cost.

There is already early praise for the book from screenwriters and authors.

Follow Me is a hilarious takedown of mommy influencers and the mighty rule of algorithms. How far will someone go to stay at the top of your FYP? Elizabeth Rose Quinn’s masterful mix of humor and sarcasm makes this the book to read about #momlife. Especially if you secretly hate Insta-mommies. A must-read…I found myself sucked in and couldn’t wait to find out what happened,” said Amina Akhtar, critically acclaimed author of Almost Surely Dead.

The film rights have already been snapped up by Amazon MGM Studios, with Crazy Rich Asians scribe Adele Lim in negotiations to write and direct, there’s already high anticipation for this release.

FOLLOW ME will be released where books are sold April 1, 2025. Watch this space for a book report.
