The finale episode of the season one of The Creep Tapes streams today and let me just say, with one vulgar word – it’s fucked up! Trust me, there is one scene I could have done without y’all and it involves no blood.
Writers and executive producers Mark Duplas and Patrick Brice, The Creep Tapes continues to unravel the mind of a secluded serial killer who lures videographers into his world with the promise of a paid job documenting his life. Unfortunately, as the tape rolls, the killer’s questionable intentions surface with his increasingly odd behavior and the victims will learn they may have made a deadly mistake.
Duplas and Brice also star in the series as they did in the film franchise of the same name. Honestly, Duplas has not lost his ability to be sinister, menacing and yes creepy. The scenarios that he uses to trap his victims were impressive especially as we have become such a world of cynics – maybe that’s just me. If I had to pick my favorites of the season, I would choose Mike (Episode 1), Jeremy (Episode 3) and Brad (Episode 4).
SPOILER ALERT!
Today’s episode, Mom (and Albert), is like I said – fucked up. We only scratch the surface of finding out why The Creep (Duplas) is as messed up as he is and how he became a serial killer. But they also leave some things to interpretation, possibly for the next season. Overall, this was a good first (or only) season and if you thought time had softened Mark Duplas’s ability to tap into his off-putting nice guy act, then you will be happily surprised. Watch it.
The Creep Tapes airs today on Shudder and AMC+
