‘Until Dawn’, gamers are going to grumble – New Trailer Thursday

The first trailer for, Until Dawn was released just as it was teased earlier this week.  And, for the second time today I’m impressed by a trailer. *Please clap.

One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.

Until Dawn is a live-action spin-off of the 2015 video game developed by Supermassive Games, it is set in the same universe but features an original standalone story that expands the series’ mythology.

The film stars Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion and Peter Stormare, (love him, btw) who played Dr. Alan J. Hill in the original game. Until Dawn, the film version is directed by David F. Sandberg from a screenplay written by Blair Butler and Gary Dauberman.

Peter Stormare stars in UNTIL DAWN.

Honestly, I don’t have any gripes with this trailer. That statement is strictly from me as a horror movie fan, not based on the game. The film seems like a good faith take on the premise of the game. So, I’m here for it. Honestly, I haven’t been thrilled by the game film adaptations of late, I’m sorry I think Five Nights at Freddy’s, missed ALL the marks. It was a mess.

Now, the TV versions of certain games Fallout and Last of Us have been chef’s kiss, but these movies ain’t doing it. So it might be a good thing to have an inspired by and not try to be a straight adaption. Just my opinion, now if the movie sucks – I gave it a chance.

Until Dawn hits theaters April 25.
