About a month ago, the Warner Bros and DC released the trailer for their upcoming horror thriller Clayface and I am happy to say it looks GREAT.

“Clayface” unravels one man’s horrifying descent from rising Hollywood star to revenge-filled monster in a story that explores the loss of one’s identity and humanity, corrosive love, and the dark underbelly of scientific ambition.

The film also stars Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan, as well as Nancy Carroll and Joshua James. James Watkins directs from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, story by Flanagan, based on characters from DC.

This is my controversial take; I’m not the biggest fan of Flanagan. His films and series are hit or miss with me, so seeing this trailer where I don’t have a lot of notes is a good sign. Since this character is based on body horror from a comic book, Flanagan’s character study writing should work here. Also, there is a bit of an upside for me I have been impressed with Watkins’s previous films, like Eden Lake (2008) and Speak No Evil (2024).

Clayface film will be released only in theaters in North America on October 23, 2026, and internationally beginning 21 October 2026.
