It stars Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Lil Rel Howery, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Stephen Root, Catherine Keener and Lakeith Stanfield.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A young African-American visits his white girlfriend&#8217;s parents for the weekend, where his simmering uneasiness about their reception of him eventually reaches a boiling point.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AHEl7Pji0f8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Principal photography took place in my home state of Alabama.\u00a0 Filming began February 2016 in Fairhope, Alabama, then moved to Barton Academy and the Ashland Place Historic District in Mobile, Alabama. The entire film was shot in 23 days.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Peele who had previously worked in comedy, said he felt the horror and comedy genres are similar in that &#8220;so much of it is pacing, so much of it [hinges on] reveals&#8221;, and that comedy gave him &#8220;something of a training&#8221; for the film. <strong><em>The Stepford Wives<\/em><\/strong> (1975) provided inspiration, about which Peele said, &#8220;it&#8217;s a horror movie but has a satirical premise.&#8221; As the film deals with racism, Peele has stated that the story is &#8220;very personal&#8221;, although he noted that &#8220;it quickly veers off from anything autobiographical.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I\u2019m old enough to remember when <strong>Get Out<\/strong> was initially released there were a lot of horror fans that didn\u2019t get this movie, (see comments underneath the trailer and on IMDB), but with the newfound wokeness of some it\u2019s now revered, as it should be. And, even though as stated above Peele said he was inspired by <strong><em>The Stepford Wives, <\/em><\/strong>some horror &#8220;fans&#8221; were griping about his Oscar win for best screenplay. According to them it was undeserved because the idea came from other horror movies.
